AUSTRIAN ARMED FORCES SIGNIFICANTLY EXPANDS USE OF VBS3

Orlando, FL - Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global developer of game-based simulation software solutions, announced today that the Austrian Armed Forces have acquired additional licenses of Virtual Battlespace 3 (VBS3), helping expand the Austrian Simulation Centre’s capabilities for virtual training and simulation.

“We look forward to delivering our latest game-based advances in VBS3 to support the Austrian Armed Forces’ simulation and training needs,” said Pete Morrison, BISim’s Co-CEO. “Austria joins a growing cadre of European and NATO militaries, significantly expanding their use of VBS3 for a wide range of training use cases.”

VBS3 provides an immersive virtual environment that helps soldiers train on tactics, rehearse for missions, and practice standard operating procedures. With its After Action Review tool, the software is designed to help soldiers learn to think, make decisions and improve communications before heading to the field for live exercises. VBS3 is used for tactical training and mission rehearsal on desktop computers as well as part-task trainers and full-mission simulators.

The latest version of VBS3 v3.7.2 includes VBS Gateway, the new user-friendly interoperability gateway supporting DIS/HLA interactions and CIGI, enabling VBS3 to act as a CIGI host. VBS3 v3.7.2 also includes VBS Radio, which offers user-friendly setup of global, side, group and direct speech communication channels. VBS3 also includes advanced sea state simulation for enhanced maritime training.

VBS3 is used in 39 countries by military organizations such as the U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps, UK Ministry of Defence, Australia Defence Force, French Armed Forces, Bundeswehr, Swedish Armed Forces, Canadian Armed Forces, and New Zealand Defense Force.
